What we offer THE STAFF We pride ourselves on our wonderful staff – all of whom are fully qualified and experienced. All staff are police checked with enhanced disclosures and must have several references. We tend to have long-term staff members and are proud of their commitment and individual qualities as well as their teamwork skills. We have continual training rotas with courses such as Child Protection, Learning Difficulties, Creative Play etc. and we are all First Aid Trained including Baby Safe First Aid.
Our Baby Unit, ‘Tweenies’, ‘Pre-School’ and ‘Schoolies’ areas are all open plan but have dividing fences to allow different activities to be managed easily. We have wheelchair access and disabled facilities. Safety and security are of paramount importance and we will only allow your child to be collected by a named person who we have met, been informed of, and who knows an individual password. We are fully registered with Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales and are regularly inspected by Environmental Health. We have colourful stimulating friezes on the walls, which also help identify our different play areas. We have a large, well-equipped and secure garden for lots of fresh air and outdoor activities. This is safety coated to cushion falls. We also have a safe, off-road car park.
Our babies have their own range of activities such as themed play days. Touch trays filled with jelly, foam, etc encourage sensory development with plenty of mess and fun. Toys are bright, colourful and noisy and aimed to make early learning fun. Unlike some nurseries, we actively encourage parents to come in and see their children in action rather than deliver them to you at the door. Many visitors have commented on the calm and happy atmosphere and we encourage parents to book an appointment and see for themselves. OUR ACTIVITIES We encourage basic Welsh and have Welsh speaking members of staff. We teach many skills through worksheets and workbooks as well as themed projects and activities and follow the National Curriculum for under 5’s. In accordance with all the latest findings, the emphasis is very much on learning through play at Gower Day Nursery. We also carefully plan our activities so children can work towards Early Learning Goals in a fun supportive atmosphere. Daily Activities will include:-
We also offer occasional trips and outings. We provide a Holiday Club with specially tailored activities for the older children.
On, or near your child's birthday, we can provide a little party in nursery with all their friends. We will provide table coverings, balloons, hats and party games etc. You can provide a cake and anything else you’d like and if you pop in a camera, we will take some memento photographs.
SCHOOL PICK UP/ DROP OFF SERVICE We offer this service to/from Llanrhidian, Llanmorlais, Penclawdd and Three Crosses schools. We have a fully insured people carrier which is driven by a member of staff. All legal car seat regulations are strictly adhered to and we do keep spare car seats for occasional loans. We can drop off before 9a.m, pick up mid morning, drop off for 1 p.m and pick up at the end of the school day.
You may be able to get financial help to pay for childcare in a registered facility such as ours if you are in education. Ty-nant tax office can give you details of how tax credit can help with your childcare costs. We accept all employment scheme childcare vouchers. |
