What We Offer

THE STAFF

We pride ourselves on our wonderful staff – all of whom are fully qualified and experienced. We have a qualified primary school teacher on our team and two Welsh speakers. All staff are DBS checked with enhanced disclosures and must have several references.  We tend to have long-term staff members and are proud of their commitment and individual qualities as well as their teamwork skills.  We have continual training rotas with courses such as Child Protection, Positive Behaviour, Creative Play etc. and we are all First Aid Trained including Baby Safe First Aid.

THE PREMISES

Our ‘Babies’, ‘Tweenies’, and ‘Schoolies’ areas are all open plan, but have dividing fences to allow different activities to be managed easily.

We have wheelchair access and disabled facilities and CCTV throughout the nursery.

We are fully registered with CIW and are regularly inspected by Environmental Health. We were finalists in the Wales Children’s Activities and Services Awards for Customer Service, achieved Healthy Snack Awards and we regularly send out questionnaires to our customers for feedback and evaluation.

We have colourful, stimulating friezes on the walls, which also help identify our different play areas, displaying the children’s work and reinforcing curriculum activities.

We have a large, well-equipped and secure garden for lots of fresh air and outdoor activities.  This is safety coated to cushion falls.  We also have a safe, off-road car park and often take the over 3s on local walks.

Many visitors have commented on the calm and happy atmosphere, and we encourage parents to book a viewing to come and see for themselves.

OUR ACTIVITIES

We encourage basic Welsh, and have Welsh speaking members of staff.  We teach many skills through worksheets and workbooks as well as themed projects and activities and follow the Foundation Phase and Curriculum for Wales.  In this planning, great emphasis is placed on developing your child’s communication skills and also on using the outdoor environment as a resource for children’s learning. Our staff are fully trained for this and will assess each child’s progress through observations and reports which are shared with parents on the child’s portal. In accordance with all the latest findings, the emphasis is very much on learning through play at Gower Day Nursery.  We also carefully plan our activities so children can work towards Early Learning Goals in a fun supportive atmosphere.
