Schoolies

Graduating into the schoolie room is always an exciting deal for our tweenies when they turn 3. Here the ratio is 8:1, child to staff ratio and we focus primarily on the curriculum for Wales ensuring the children are fully prepared for full time school. Central to the new curriculum are the four purposes.

These four purposes are that all children and young people will be: Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives. Enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work. Ethical, informed citizens who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world. Healthy , confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
This is the shared vision and aspiration for every child and young person.

The Schoolies will take part in activities based on 6 areas of learning, encouraging more child led play.

The 6 areas of learning are:

Humanities,
Health and Well being,
Expressive Arts,
Mathematics and Numeracy,
Science and Technology,
Language, Literacy and Communication

The children will have various stations they can choose to visit and by selecting their own equipment will encourage their independence as well as nurturing their skills to develop their confidence.

The staff will explore more of the academic side of the Curriculum with the schoolies and literacy and maths will be led through games and fun learning. Progress is tracked and shared with you and you will be able to see what outcomes your child has achieved via your child’s portal . Firm friendships are made in the Schoolies and often these friendships continue through school life.
